Kym has been home from the hospital for almost 3 weeks now. She is still in a lot of pain but is feeling better each day knowing we are supporting her in prayer. After meeting with the doctor on Friday she was given the green light to start her six-months of chemotherapy on Monday, April 12th. Kym is able to get small intervals of rest in the midst of her recovery, including a 90-minute nap in the hammock of her fabulous new back yard, and is hoping to start returning some emails later this week. She received prayer at the healing service at Mariners Mission Viejo, and with us, believes God will heal her in His timing, and in His way. Please keep Kym, her husband Chris and their son Blake in your prayers.

Blessings!

<trackback:ping>http://inside.marinerschurch.org/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=477&PortalID=0&TabID=37</trackback:ping>
Kym Andrew's Update

Hi Guys,

We are very excited to report that Kym’s surgery went fabulous with no surprises. The doctors and nurses are big fans of Kym and say that she is doing amazing. Kym is remaining to stay positive and have a great attitude as recovers. Each day she is taking small steps to regain mobility starting with lovely walks around the halls. She still needs lots of rest. So, please no visitors at this time. She is very thankful for all the prayers and support and is looking forward to seeing everyone when she feels better. Please pray that Kym has minimal pain and is comfortable as she heals.
Thanks so much! :)

Fusion used to have 30 black tablecloths stored in the patio storage closet, then upper room storage closet. We know many people borrowed them in the past, and in the merge of Fusion and Fuel to Drive they seem to have disappeared. If you happen to know where they are, could you please let me know?

Mariners Outreach is excited to announce we will be resuming trips to Mexico starting on June 6. Over the last few weeks as we have monitored information coming from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Recently the CDC downgraded its non-essential travel warning to a Travel Health Precaution and removed its recommendation that US travelers avoid travel to Mexico. In addition, the WHO is not recommending travel restrictions related to the H1N1 virus. For more information on the virus and the CDC recommendations visit their website:

On May 1, 2009 The Orange County United Way hosted its 6th annual Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast benefiting women and girls in Orange County. At the breakfast, Gladys Reynolds was personally recognized for her nomination as a local unsung hero. She was given a donation to the Lighthouse Community Center in her name from the Women’s Philanthropy Fund. A brief statement in the event program stated: “Gladys never dreamed she would be an agent for change when she was living on the streets of Honduras, crossing the border to pick strawberries and clean houses. Gladys understands the problems plaguing the Latino community and selflessly serves the residents of Santa Ana as Adult Coordinator for Mariners’ Lighthouse Community Centers, teaching ESL workshops for adults, combating domestic violence, teen pregnancy and gang involvement.”

Make sure you congratulate Gladys when you see her!

Why?
Hello staff...due to the uncertainty of the current conditions as a result of the recent swine flu outbreak, and for the protection of our congregation and those we serve, Outreach is temporarily postponing all Mexico trips until further notice. We are monitoring the situation closely and will be ready to resume trips as soon as we possibly can.
Please refer to the Outreach website www.marinersoutreach.org for ongoing updates on trip status. If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Adair x263 or Lindsey Porter x285.

We had a great response (and sales) for our tamale fundraiser at LCC this year. However, I did save a bunch for all staff as well. This is a great way to help out the kids at Lighthouse Community Center and send them to Winter Camp this year. If you wish to purchase some tamales for yourself or a Christmas party, we have both chicken and beef tamales available in 6 or 12 packs ($10 or $20). If you are interested, please let me know!

moving in…

Moving into the Student Center over the past couple weekends has been truly remarkable. We are eagerly anticipating the Grand Opening in January. In this in-between stage we are excited about using the building on the weekends and are looking forward to all the ministry opportunities that will become available as the Student Center is completed. Several questions have arisen regarding the present status of the facility.

This is long overdue, however I would like to thank you for all the prayers during both my parents illnesses, and then again with their recent passing away. Each step of the way I knew I was not alone, as I could feel God's presence, carrying me through those difficult months.
I also want you to know how deeply I was touched by all the help I received from so many of you...with both of the memorial details, and by those of you who contributed to the fund for my Father's memorial. It felt so comforting to experience the community of our staff that surrounded me in my time of need.
I want to thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.
Love,

First of all, I would like to thank everyone so much for all the emails, texts, visits and calls I have received. I am truly overwhelmed and embarassingly blessed by all of the love and concern that has come my way as well as the prayers. I love seeing the big "C" Church rally around someone at a time of need. I love my church and our staff so much.

In the CD Ministry, we are missing a significant amount of DVD’S/CD’S and the plastic casings. By any chance did anyone “borrow” some of our supply and “forgot” to tell us?

If so, no worries, please let me know what you used, so we can charge your “Department Account” appropriately.

I believe we are missing 800 DVD’S/CD’S and the appropriate casings.

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) also has usefull info on the Santiago fire. The map shows the burn and evacuation areas.
For satelite photos, NASA's got 'em.
Hope this helps give you the info you need.

Because we’re always looking for new ways to help make your job a little easier; and communicate with other ministries what's going on. With many changes designed to help you find the info you need quickly, we’re hoping we succeeded.

Do I have to login? No, if you’re logged into your PC at work, the system knows who you are. If you are using a Macintosh, or you are working from home, you DO have to login. Click the "Login" button, and use your full email address as your user name, and use your email password.

Where are the forms? This will probably be one of your first questions. Instead of a dedicated page, you can now find all the forms listed under the relevant general headings along with all the other info.

There is much more to see, so take a look around and have fun exploring. We’re excited to hear what you think. So, stop by and sample our peanut butter sandwich concoctions and chat with us about the new HUB.
