Wednesday we arrived at Light and Peace church to provide a medical clinic for the people there. It was the last day of the 3 day prayer and fasting that was encouraged by the government here. There were more than 700 people at the church praying. Gene had the opportunity to speak to them out of 1 Corinthians 6:12.

Everyone is bonding well. The travel Tuesday was uneventful which was good! We were able to get 19 people and 1100lbs of luggage and supplies into Haiti without a hitch! When we got to the orphanage (camp site) we were surprised to find 5 brand new showers and a few new toilets!

We spent the afternoon playing with the kids here, setting up camp and sorting medical supplies for the clinic tomorrow. We also were able to connect with Nick Balcombe from Operation Blessing (one of our partners in Peru). They will be helping us get supplies, food, water and tents to distribute to the people here.

Wednesday we will be providing a medical clinic for the people around Light and Peace mission. We have four translators that will be helping us.

Due to a slight mix up in communication we got word there was 400 people waiting for the clinic Wednesday at Pastor Josephs. Unfortunately we won't be there until Thursday but we are confident they will all be back!

God is providing for us in amazing ways. We have definitely seen God's provision over the last few days. Please pray for endurance and strength for the team. It's hot here! :) -LP

<trackback:ping>http://inside.marinerschurch.org/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=362&PortalID=0&TabID=37</trackback:ping>
Ministry contacts in Wilmington, North Carolina?

Recently a member of our partner church in Honduras (PIER) has been accepted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, for an open heart surgery that would have been too risky to perform in Honduras. Her name is Areceli and she is 24 years old. She is expected to be in the US for 4-6 weeks. All expenses for her and one family member are being covered by a group of non-profits. It's just the two of them and they know nobody.

Here is where you come in...PIER has asked if we (Mariners) have any contacts in the Wilmington area, who might be able to visit, encourage and minister to Araceli and her family member. If you have any contacts/ideas, please let me know! The Latin America Scout Team touched down at LAX at 12:05 am this morning. We got to know and love our extended family seen in the first photo and we also had the opportunity to see some communities with enormous needs as you can see in the second picture.
We also grew closer as a team than I ever imagined possible in 9 days! Thanks to Barb and Gene for facilitating that unity.
I also want to thank every one of you who prayed for our team. We poured our hearts into this trip and exhausted ourselves daily. God answered your prayers to give us strength. Thank you!
If you want to see more photos of the trip and a daily account of what we did you can go to the following site and click on the day you want to see. L.A.S.T. Photos & Details
