Meet our new staff:

Sheri Morse, Children's and Family - Creative Arts Coordinator

What brought you to Mariners?
My family loves Mariners. We came here for the children’s program, and the 5:00 service. That was 7 years ago! And of course fell in love with Kenton’s messages.

Favorite hobby?
I love spending time outside. From the ocean to the mountains I love walking and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. I love animals and enjoy our walks with the dogs.

Favorite cartoon character?
I do not really have one but Garfield always makes my smile.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?
That’s a hard one… I think I would work with the lions.

Favorite Christmas memory?
After opening presents one Christmas, we all decided to get into our cars and drive to the family house in the mountains. My sister and her family, my folks and us had the best few days in the snow just being a family. The snow was perfect and the game nights were a hit with the kids.

Jonah Haase, Latin America Coordinator

What brought you to Mariners?
After the Peace Corps I moved here from Wisconsin and began the search for a new church.  My brother (a non-believer) recommended Mariners Church because a while back he crashed his bike in front of the church and several people came over to help him.  A week later in the Worship Center I stood up said, “I believe” for the first time.

Favorite hobbies?
Training Clydesdales with my dad. Euchre.  Here in CA: Zumba and line dancing.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Rome – I am a huge history buff.

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.
I collect machetes. Bigger the better.

What is your favorite weird food combination?
Cheese in cereal.  Num num

Jon Armstrong, Tech Arts

What brought you to Mariners?
I was invited by a friend back in 2003 and just keep going to different ministries

Favorite hobby?
Taking things apart and putting them back together.

If you could only use one gadget for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
Iphone, I've yet to find something it can't do.

Desktop wallpaper on your computer?
It switched between the Golden Gate bridge at sundown and downtown LA at night.

Where are you from?
Irvine

What do you like best about your hometown?
That I'm moving to Costa Mesa.

updates regarding the comm workroom...

hello friends,

we are blessed (to be a blessing!) to have a work space in our dept where we can trim/plot/cut/stick/mount/store/fold stuff...and we are glad we can make that room available to ministries as much as possible.

since the space has seen a lot of action recently, we thought it might be a good time to share some info:

projects to support the weekend services have priority
please ask your department’s go-to person to contact megan (x8282)
about work space availability

BYOS (bring your own supplies)
supplies in this room are purchased by comm for comm dept use. to ensure you always have the supplies you need when you need them, your ministry should purchase and bring supplies such as foam core, laminating pouches, tape, grommets, vinyl, x-acto knives, etc. listed below are the vendors we use.

please clean up after yourself
remaining organized benefits everyone. please clean trimmings from the cutter and the trim pieces under the plotter. and please remember to take your projects and your supplies with you when you leave.

the cost of plotting will be adjusted September 1

some went up slightly, two went down, one stayed the same. The new prices are listed below. perspective: a 3’x5’ banner at FedEx/Kinkos would be $135. in house = $13.75...

please designate someone in your department as the go-to person

this will simplify communications with regards to use of the room.

please let megan (x8282) know who your contact will be

it’s best to have this be the person who uses the room most frequently

if you have any questions, feel free to ask us. we hope this work space can continue to be a helpful resource for everyone.

thanks,

the comm team
