Meet our new staff:

Sheri Morse, Children's and Family - Creative Arts Coordinator

What brought you to Mariners?
My family loves Mariners. We came here for the children’s program, and the 5:00 service. That was 7 years ago! And of course fell in love with Kenton’s messages.

Favorite hobby?
I love spending time outside. From the ocean to the mountains I love walking and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. I love animals and enjoy our walks with the dogs.

Favorite cartoon character?
I do not really have one but Garfield always makes my smile.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?
That’s a hard one… I think I would work with the lions.

Favorite Christmas memory?
After opening presents one Christmas, we all decided to get into our cars and drive to the family house in the mountains. My sister and her family, my folks and us had the best few days in the snow just being a family. The snow was perfect and the game nights were a hit with the kids.

Jonah Haase, Latin America Coordinator

What brought you to Mariners?
After the Peace Corps I moved here from Wisconsin and began the search for a new church.  My brother (a non-believer) recommended Mariners Church because a while back he crashed his bike in front of the church and several people came over to help him.  A week later in the Worship Center I stood up said, “I believe” for the first time.

Favorite hobbies?
Training Clydesdales with my dad. Euchre.  Here in CA: Zumba and line dancing.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Rome – I am a huge history buff.

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.
I collect machetes. Bigger the better.

What is your favorite weird food combination?
Cheese in cereal.  Num num

Jon Armstrong, Tech Arts

What brought you to Mariners?
I was invited by a friend back in 2003 and just keep going to different ministries

Favorite hobby?
Taking things apart and putting them back together.

If you could only use one gadget for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
Iphone, I've yet to find something it can't do.

Desktop wallpaper on your computer?
It switched between the Golden Gate bridge at sundown and downtown LA at night.

Where are you from?
Irvine

What do you like best about your hometown?
That I'm moving to Costa Mesa.

Genesis Process Training (Care & Recovery)

As discussed at the last all-staff meeting, the first ever Genesis Process Training is taking place THIS FRIDAY & SATURDAY, Dec 2nd & 3rd. If you are interested in joining us…PLEASE REGISTER TODAY.

Genesis Process training will provide insight on:

  • Neurochemical reasons why habitual sin is both pervasive and unconscious.
  • Assessment strategies to understand willingness and capacity to change.
  • Uncovering & engaging faulty belief systems supporting destructive behaviors.
  • We will learn and practice how to partner with God to foster true biblical inner healing and freedom.
  • Simple formulas and exercises to apply in everyday situations to avoid sabotaging life and relationships.

Below you will find a registration link and a special comp code for staff so that you can register for FREE. As we approach the launch of People of the Second Chance in January, this training will help equip us to learn more about the future of our Care & Recovery ministry as well as how we can better serve those struggling in our community.

  • Genesis Process Training Registration Link
  • Comp Code – staff100

TechArts Requests!

It has come to our attention that many of you have forgotten to request techs for your Fall events and are asking a few days before and causing our team unnecessary stress. Thus, this is a little reminder, to ensure a tech at one of your events we need 3 weeks notice. Second reminder, when you book a room in EMS - it does not book a tech - you need to fill out a form on the HUB to request a tech. It is a separate request (now say that three times to yourself :)).

Please review your fall ministry calendars and make sure that you have made all your necessary techarts requests. It is okay to request a tech even if you don't have the needs yet - if you know you need one - please request it early instead of waiting until you have all the details. Lastly, we always encourage a volunteer to be trained to run your sound if at all possible.

We are here to serve your ministries (and love doing so!) and can do that best when we know about your event as early as possible. Thanks!
